Newark's Crown Jewel - The Crystal Ballroom

Thank you for your interest in The Crystal Ballroom and Eastland Catering, we are a full service, on and off premise catering company, that caters events from 25 to 500.  I hope this website can answer many of your questions and help guide you in planning your event.

We are committed to the very best quality food and service available.  Eastland Catering has two catering options to choose from, On Premise and Off Premise.

bulletOn Premise Catering

Eastland Catering has exclusive catering rights in the beautiful and historic Crystal Ballroom.  The Crystal Ballroom can accommodate events up to 350 (225 sit down).  This Crown Jewel of Downtown Newark, celebrated its 100th birthday in 2003.  It is in pristine condition, with its original hardwood floors, ornate plaster walls and ceilings, 10 foot columns, and 20 foot ceilings.  The Ballroom has a built in stage, elevator service, and can host day and evening events.  The Crystal Ballroom rental fee fluctuates according to time of year, day of week, and time of day.

bulletOff Premise Catering

Eastland Catering, has the ability to cater any type or size event in venues outside The Crystal Ballroom.  We are very experienced in catering events as large as 350 outside our facilities, and an execute any event from a formal plated dinner to a picnic party.

bulletLocation & Parking

The Crystal Ballroom and Eastland Catering are located at 29 West Church St. Second Floor, Newark, OH 43055.  We are only one block north of the "square" in downtown Newark.  If you are following State Route 16 East or West, exit at the 4th street exit, follow 4th street South to the second light (this is Church St.).  Turn left at Church St., we sit immediately on the right.  State Route 13 is 4th St. in Newark, if you are following Route 13, follow to Church St. and turn, again we sit directly on the right.  Parking is located on both sides of the street, as well in the lots across and caddy corner of the building.

bulletCatering Guarantee's

There are two types of Guarantees: The Preliminary and Final.  The Preliminary is the guarantee needed to formulate a quote of what we believe our food and service will cost for an event.  As outlined in our contract a "Final Guarantee" (the number of guests you are expecting to attend) is required 14 days before the event. Eastland Catering will prepare food & beverage to serve 10% over the "Final Guarantee".  This additional food is in case of last minute additions and will not be charged for unless used.  No allowance or adjustments will be made to the final bill or "Final Guarantee", for a decrease in numbers at the time of the event.  Final Menu Choices are due 30 days prior to your event.

bulletNon-Eastland Food & Beverages

The Crystal Ballroom does not allow any food or beverage to be brought in to any event without prior approval.   The Eastland Catering Company is the exclusive caterer and no outside catering companies are permitted.  Wedding cakes or specialty cakes for events are allowed to be brought in.

bulletBuffet and Plated Food Service

Buffet service is a type of food service, it is not an "all you can eat" option.  Plated dinners are available, please ask for pricing and options.

bulletFood & Room Rental Charges

The Crystal Ballroom room rental fee includes: Use of Room for alloted time, set up, clean up, and use of tables/chairs.  Eastland Catering food charges include: Food/Beverage, china, glass, and any catering equipment needed for the event.  In some cases we reserve the right to substitute high quality plastic ware for china, glass, and silver.

bulletGratuity and Taxes

Eastland Catering charges an 18% gratuity for all events, as well as Ohio State Sales Tax. (currently 7%)

bulletBooking The Crystal Ballroom

To book The Crystal Ballroom and Eastland Catering, signed contracts and deposits are required.  All quotes and tentative holds on event dates are valid for only 15 days.  The Crystal Ballroom and Eastland Catering accepts cash and checks as payments.

bulletTable Decorations and Candle Use

Table decorations are the responsibility of the person booking the event.  The Crystal Ballroom provides a standard centerpiece, but also has Vases, Lead Crystal Hurricanes, that can be used for your event for no charge Open flames are not permitted to be used in the ballroom.  Tea lights, candles in water (fish bowls or vases), or candles enclosed in hurricanes are allowed.  Glitter and confetti are allowed.  It is the events responsibility to decorate their tables.

The Crystal Ballroom is a Non-Smoking Facility

bulletDecorating Before Your Event

The Crystal Ballroom allows an event to decorate the room beginning at 8:00 am the day of the event.  If the Ballroom is not in use the day before your event, you may set up (max. 3 hours) that day.  If the day before your event is not booked, you may "Book" that date, so no other events will be scheduled, for only $200, and will have use of the Ballroom for the entire day.  Nothing may be affixed to the walls of the ballroom.

bulletEntertainment

The use of entertainment in the Ballroom  is allowed.  They may set up as early as 4 hours before the event and no later than 1/2 hour before the arrival of the 1st guest, and must remove all equipment at the end of the event.  All entertainment must carry liability insurance, in case damage or destruction to the building or any of its contents.
